Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Daniel Gayed is a consultant cardiologist with a subspecialty focus in heart failure and valvular disorders, with specialised training in cardiac diagnostic imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI. However, his expertise also extends to cardiovascular risk assessment, complex lipid management, and management of coronary artery disease. With extensive experience in structural heart imaging and transoesophageal echocardiography, Dr Gayed combines clinical leadership with high-level diagnostic acumen to deliver patient-centered cardiac care across a range of public and private settings.

Dr Gayed completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne following an honours degree in pharmacy and an MBA, equipping him with a unique combination of clinical insight and strategic healthcare management skills. He underwent advanced cardiology training at Austin Health, Western Health, and Box Hill Hospital, before completing imaging fellowships at both Austin and Western Health. In these roles, he has led imaging services, supervised junior staff, and contributed to the development of quality improvement protocols.

His research portfolio includes numerous peer-reviewed publications covering acute coronary syndromes, interventional cardiology outcomes, and vaccine-related cardiac complications. He has previously contributed to national and international journals and has presented at conferences across Australia and internationally. Dr Gayed’s leadership roles extend to education, having served as a clinical skills tutor and examiner at the University of Melbourne, and as a mentor to junior colleagues.

Dr Gayed consults privately at Heart West while holding a public appointment at Western Health. He also holds appointments at several private hospitals including Epworth Richmond, Epworth Eastern, Warringal Private and Knox Private. Outside of medicine, he is an active community member, serving on local sporting committees and supporting youth soccer programs. His broad academic, clinical, and community involvement reflects his commitment to advancing both cardiac care and the health of the broader community.
