A/Prof Zahra Alizadeh Sani

Associate Professor Zahra Alizadeh Sani is a Consultant Cardiologist and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Specialist with expertise in non-invasive cardiology, preventive cardiology, and multimodality cardiovascular imaging. She provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with coronary artery disease, chest pain, hypertension, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, structural heart disease, and complex cardiovascular conditions.

Her clinical practice combines compassionate patient-centred care with advanced cardiovascular imaging and contemporary guideline-based management to deliver accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment, and long-term cardiovascular health.

A/Prof Alizadeh Sani has particular expertise in advanced echocardiography, stress echocardiography, Cardiac CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA), and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR). She completed advanced cardiovascular imaging training at internationally recognised centres across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and practises as a Consultant Cardiologist in Melbourne. Her practice has a strong focus on preventive cardiology, women’s heart health, cardiovascular risk reduction, and advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging.

Alongside her clinical work, A/Prof Alizadeh Sani has had an extensive academic career. She previously served as Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Imaging at Iran University of Medical Sciences and as an Adjunct Professor at one of Iran’s leading engineering and technology universities. Her academic interests include cardiovascular imaging, artificial intelligence, and precision cardiovascular medicine.

As one of the pioneers of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) in Iran, she played a leading role in establishing advanced cardiovascular imaging services across several tertiary referral centres. She also founded the Iranian Cardiovascular Imaging Association and was the principal architect of Iran’s National Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship curriculum, contributing significantly to specialist education and training.

Internationally, she currently serves as Chair of the Cardiac MRI Study Group and Executive Committee Member of the Iranian Chapter of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and previously served on the Executive Committee of the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (ASCI).

A/Prof Alizadeh Sani is the author of two postgraduate textbooks in cardiovascular imaging and numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications. She has also contributed as a scientific reviewer and Persian-language translator of selected Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) guidelines and educational resources.

Her work has been recognised through several national and international honours, including the Best Case Presentation Award at the EuroCMR Congress (Vienna), the Gold Medal and Women Inventor Award at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, and a United States patent in cardiovascular diagnostics and medical innovation.
